Celebrities Who Tragically Lost Their Homes to Devastating Wildfires

A wildfire raging through LA County — in one of the worst fire years in LA history — is chewing through dozens of homes, and affecting celebrities among others.

The fire, which started Tuesday morning, has consumed 17,000 acres and counting. When forced alongside Malibu, and Santa Monica, it ran in the face of clean conditions, and high winds.

Five of these blazes have been named Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, Lidia and Sunset by firefighters who are battling them. Because of the rapidly spreading fire, they have so far been unable to bring the flames under control.

Destruction of Homes, And Evacuations

According to the Los Angeles Times five people have died and more than 100,000 residents ordered to evacuate. More than 2,000 houses, businesses and other structures have been lost to the fires.

The celebrity-terranean fittest Palisades hath been full evacuated. As CNN reporter Leigh Waldman described the scene: “Apocalyptic.”

Here are some celebrities who lost their homes in the fire:

Paris Hilton

The Malibu home of Paris Hilton, who has two children with husband Carter Reum, was destroyed, the reality star revealed on Instagram. She said that she was “devastated” but at least her family and animals were safe.

Billy Crystal

Billy Crystal and his wife Janice lost the Pacific Palisades home they lived in for 46 years. They said in a statement they were “devastated” by the death, but grateful for the support of family and friends.

Eugene Levy

Schitt’s Creek alum Eugene Levy evacuated his house before later confirming its destruction. He recounted all the confusion and smoke while they were evacuating.

Sir Anthony Hopkins

It would not be the first home that Sir Anthony Hopkins has lost to flames. His LA abode burnt down to the ground and he had previously lost a home in London to a fire.

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag

The Hills stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt also lost their home but got out with their sons safe. On social media, they chronicled the tragedy.

Rachael Leigh Cook and Daniel Gillies

Actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester say goodbye to their LA home they bought in 2019 for $6.5million They also raised their two kids there.

Meanwhile stars who had their home destroyed include: James Wood, John Goodman, Anna Faris, Cary Elwes, Ricki Lake, Miles Teller, Mark Hamill, and Cameron Mathison.

What’s Causing the Fires?

Strong winds and dry vegetation make the region particularly combustible, and high stages of humidity are likely to aid put off the fires. So even though some experts point the finger at climate change as a contributing factor, there is still no clear answer.

Those living in the area were told to “evacuate immediately” and continue to check for updates.
