When Kelley talks about her very first bird obsession — or what birders call a “spark bird” — she doesn’t even hesitate. “For me, it was the Roseate Spoonbill,” she laughs. “They’re pink! How could I not fall in love with them?”

Back when her kids were little, she admits she used to bribe them with $10 each just to tag along on bird photography trips if Spoonbills were spotted nearby. “I don’t know what kind of parent that makes me,” she jokes, “but hopefully they have some fun memories of chasing after the pink birds.”

It’s that same playful love for birds that still fuels her passion today, turning simple bird watching into stunning bird photography that doubles as fine art.

Kelley’s photography isn’t just about creating beautiful art — it also carries a strong bird conservation message. “Birds are facing more pressure than ever,” she says. “With habitat loss and climate change on the rise, my biggest hope is that my images inspire people to care about the birds in their backyard and beyond.”

For her, nothing beats the moment when someone says one of her photos got them into bird watching or even hooked on bird photography. And she doesn’t just talk the talk — Kelley gives back too. She donates 2% of her print sales and 100% of her speaking fees directly to Audubon South Carolina, supporting local conservation efforts to protect the species she loves so much.
